FOOTBALL's most famous mullet will soon be no more. AFL star Taylor Walker has vowed to shave off his mullet if he can raise $50,000 for charity.

The Adelaide forward will spend the next year on the sidelines after injuring his knee playing Carlton at the weekend.

After being inspired by the plight of a little girl with acute leukaemia, he has decided to spend the time helping The Leukaemia Foundation.

To get the ball rolling he will donate $5000 to the charity, cut his hair, and lobby Richmond ruckman Ivan Maric to lop his mullet for the same cause.

"If we raise 50 grand we're going to get it cut," Walker told the Herald Sun.

"We're trying to talk big Ivan in to do it as well, but that's a work in progress, so we'll see how we go."

Walker revealed he had been touched by five-year-old leukaemia sufferer Lily had had six months of intensive treatment, and will have to endure another two years of therapy.

An 11-year-old girl he met who lost her sight because of leukaemia had also put his season-ending injury in perspective.

"Whenever I've been thinking about my knee, that's all I've been thinking about - a girl with zero per cent of sight is a lot worse off than what I am," he said.

"It just puts everything in perspective when something going on in my life is not as dramatic as Lily or the 11-year-old girl."

Walker said he would appear on The Footy Show and allow Sam Newman to cut the mullet once the $50,000 mark was reached.
