KURT Tippett has been snapped up by the Swans at No. 11 in the pre-season draft in a deal that will earn him between $800,000 and $1 million next year, despite being suspended for the first 11 games.
The deal guarantees Tippett a cool $72,700 a game - more than $2000 better than the average Aussie's yearly income.
Perhaps celebrating the new chapter in his life, Tippett updated the profile picture on his Twitter account - swapping one of him celebrating a goal for the Crows with an image taken at the home of his Gold Coast property developer father Tony.
While Tippett did not face the media yesterday, his new coach John Longmire said he was unconcerned at both the dollars and the drama that surrounded his signing.
The Swans had chased Tippett for months and waited out the AFL Commission hearing into his 2009 contract with the Crows - which was found to have breached both salary cap and draft tampering regulations - but yesterday could not be more pleased with their signing.
The Advertiser understands the second year of his contract will be worth significantly less, but the high figure on his head priced rival clubs out of the market.

Longmire was not interested in discussing financials but didn't hide his excitement in signing Tippett, who is seen as a key forward first and ruckman second.
"We don't comment on what he's getting paid. What we do comment on and what matters more internally is how he goes about his business," he said.
"And that's what Kurt will be judged on internally; how hard he prepares and how well he attacks the game and competes on the weekend.
"It's obviously a little bit frustrating for him and us, not being able to play for the first 11 weeks, but it is what it is.
"He'll prepare and he'll work hard and get himself in the best possible shape, I'm sure, to have a real impact for the back half of the year."
Longmire said Tippett's immediate reaction had been one of relief, after the saga surrounding him had left to an acrimonious departure from West Lakes, suspensions for those involved in drawing up his last contract and financial sanctions to the Crows, chief executive Steven Trigg and Tippett.
Tippett will have served his suspension by round 13, when the Swans play Port Adelaide, and Longmire would not rule out him playing immediately.
"The plan is that he'll be playing as soon as he's available," Longmire said.
"We set out which seems a long time ago to get Tippett into our football club and we were able to do that today, which is something we're really pleased about.
"There were obviously some unforeseen circumstances and something that made it a little bit longer and drawn out than what it could have been at the start.
"But in the end, the result for the football club is that we get him in the door and we think he'll be a good footballer for us for a long time.
"What he brings for the second half of next year - and more importantly for the coming years ... he's only 25 years of age, he's a 202cm key position forward who this year had over 70 shots for goal.
"We think he can add some real firepower in our front half alongside Sam Reid."
