MARK Ricciuto has conceded his faith in the Adelaide Football Club is being strongly tested by the Kurt Tippett salary cap scandal but hopes the Crows will go some way to repairing their damaged reputation at the forthcoming AFL hearing.

Ricciuto discussed the saga on Triple M yesterday morning and as is his way, initially tried to brighten up what is an increasingly gloomy outlook for his former club.

"The squeaky clean Crows are in trouble here aren't they?" Ricciuto said.

"I hope they (AFL investigators) don't go back too far   ... I think I might be heading back to Waikerie."

But the  former captain became serious when asked how  he was coping with on-going  revelations surrounding the club and alleged third-party deals involving some players.

"I can't believe it, I honestly can't believe it," he said.

"Some of the allegations coming out sound a little bit dumb and a little bit simple and I'd be surprised if they are correct.

"But the AFL don't charge people unless they've got a pretty good reason to do it. I've just got my fingers crossed this doesn't end up as bad as what it's looking like at the moment."

Asked whether heads should roll at West Lakes, Ricciuto said: "The longer it goes and the deeper it gets it's going to be hard for heads not to roll ... not that I'm  accusing anyone or actually knowing exactly what's going on."

The champion Brownlow Medallist also revealed his frustration with the Tippett camp.

"I think everyone would be a bit annoyed with Kurt at  the moment," Ricciuto said.

"He's a good lad and I always got along real well with Kurt. I can't believe he left and I don't understand why he left. He had everything right here, very good money, good team all of that.

"In some ways I think he's getting back a bit of just desserts for doing what he did."

Former Crow and Norwood premiership coach Nathan Bassett said he had never seen or heard of illegal third-party deals during his time at West Lakes.

And he said he had never been offered one himself.

"Have you seen the car I drive?" Bassett said.
