Tom Hawkins woke from his slumber kicking two goals in the third quarter while Mathew Stokes and Paul Chapman (two goals) rose to the occasion.

Meanwhile, Sydney has been run off its feet with Lewis Roberts-Thomson (knee) subbed out and star Dan Hannebery on one leg after a bone-jarring hit in the third quarter.

Hannebery spent time off the ground with medicos checking out his left leg after he landed awkwardly in a marking contest.

HALF TIME
Sydney 63 leads Geelong 58

SYDNEY survived a late Geelong rally to maintain a five-point lead at the main change.

The Swans made a fast start in the second quarter kicking the first two goals before the Cats hit back with two of their own.

Dan Hannebery led the Swans with 18 disposals in the half followed by Kieren Jack (17 possessions) and Ted Richards (16 touches).

Geelong captain Joel Selwood tried his guts out in keeping the Cats in the match amassing 18 first half disposals.

Meanwhile, Sydney was forced to use its substitute Mitch Morton midway through the second quarter replacing Lewis Roberts-Thomson (knee).

QUARTER-TIME
Sydney 49 leads Geelong 44

SYDNEY got the better of a no holds barred opening quarter when veteran Jude Bolton burst clear to kick his second and the Swans eighth goal of the term.

The reigning premiers led Geelong by five points after the sides combined for 15 goals in the term.

Swans co-captains Jarrad McVeigh and Adam Goodes also booted two goals apiece.

Geelong youngster George Horlin-Smith was the pick of the Cats picking up 10 disposals including his side's first goal.

Joel Selwood was busy in the clinches while Harry Taylor proved Geelong's most dangerous forward with James Podsiadly and Tom Hawkins unsighted in the shootout.

Meanwhile, Cats veteran Paul Chapman received treatment tightness in his hamstrings during the quarter-time break.

PRE-GAME

SYDNEY sharpshooter Mitch Morton will start as the substitute for tonight's match against Sydney at the SCG.

The former Richmond and West Coast forward booted 11 goals in the NEAFL last week making him almost impossible to be overlooked at the selection table.

Meanwhile, Geelong goes into the match unchanged with young gun Josh Caddy as its substitute.

The Cats will be hoping the inclusion of Jared Rivers can help shore up its backline as the Swans talls and smalls look to exploit their rivals inside the arc.

Sydney piled on 11 goals against North Melbourne during the third quarter last week with the likes of Ben McGlynn and Jude Bolton doing most of the damage.

But the Cats boast plenty of firepower close to goal with the rapid improvement of Allen Christensen and Mathew Stokes as goalkickers.

Ultimate SuperCoach form guide

Tom Hawkins is well placed to take the game by the scruff while James Podsiadly will also bob up and make the most of his opportunities.

Sydney looks to have the ruck battle at its mercy with in form Mike Pyke and Shane Mumford too experienced for Cats athlete Mark Blicavs and Trent West.
