DEFENDER Campbell Heath says unbeaten Port Adelaide's confidence in its fitness means it is never beaten.

Praising the work of new fitness coach Darren Burgess, Heath said the players are so fit they know they can "run over teams" in the final quarter of games.

Speaking after the Power's courageous come-from-behind win in Showdown XXXIV, Heath described the club's improved fitness as "a real strength of ours".

"We've got a good belief within us and know if we can be within of a few goals of a team late in a game then we can run over the top of them," the former Swan said.

"We can beat a team on the outside and really spread well, which is what we did (against Adelaide). That's full credit to Darren Burgess, who has got us in really good condition this year.

"He's been awesome for us and there is now a really good belief within the boys that we can run out games.

"I think last year we really struggled in that aspect, whereas this year it is a real strength for us."

Port fought back from 31 points behind in the third quarter against the Crows to win by nine points.

Its famous derby comeback included a match-winning burst of 11 of the 13 goals kicked in the game from the 12-minute mark of the third quarter to the 18-minute mark of the last. While the Crows appeared to tire, the Power finished full of running.

It has outscored its opposition in all second halves and final quarters this season, kicking 34 goals to 16 in the last 60 minutes of games.

This is in stark contrast to last year when it was over-run - and visibly tired - towards the end of matches.

Heath said beating Adelaide had "given us more credibility" after wins against modest opposition in Melbourne and Greater Western Sydney in the opening two rounds.

Heath, a revelation in the back half for his new club, said Port, which hasn't made the finals since 2007, no longer feared any rival.

Where once the "F" word was banished at Alberton, the Power is now targeting a top-eight finish.

"We're definitely going to strive a lot higher than we have in the past," Heath said.
