LUCKLESS West Coast forward Mark LeCras will undergo surgery today to repair a small fracture in his right arm.
But Eagles coach John Worsfold remained optimistic about LeCras' injury.
"Lecca has a slight fracture in his arm... (he will have) surgery tomorrow." Worsfold said after the 28-point loss to Fremantle at Paterson's Stadium last night.
Worsfold said he doesn't expect the injury to keep LeCras sidelined for too long.
LeCras missed all of the 2012 season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament during the NAB Cup.
The 26-year-old broke his arm in a collision with Docker Tendai Mzungu during the third quarter.
LeCras attacked the contest but was met heavily as both players had eyes only for the ball.
The goalsneak, who was one of the Eagles' best before going down with injury, was quick to use his jumper for a sling after the clash.
Meanwhile, Eagles defender Eric Mackenzie sustained a minor hamstring injury during the bruising 37th edition of the Western Derby.
Docker Hayden Ballantyne also had his night cut short when his left hamstring went ping while skipper Matthew Pavlich, reported in the second quarter for charging, had his left hand strapped after splitting the webbing between his fingers.
