COLLINGWOOD premiership captain Tony Shaw says midfielder Scott Pendlebury is ready to succeed Nick Maxwell as skipper.
The Pies will assess their leadership structure as they prepare to head to Utah for the club's altitude camp, from December 4.
Shaw said Maxwell had led the club superbly in his four-year reign, guiding the Pies to the 2010 premiership and handling several off-field dramas.
But with the skipper turning 30 next year, Shaw said a change would bring the best out of Pendlebury, 24, and help Maxwell focus on his performances in the twilight of his career.
"When Pendlebury filled in as captain later in the year, he just looked like he coped with it beautifully," he said.
"He's next in line and he just does it so well.
"They could leave it as it is, but I was always one to hand over the captaincy while you were still in place, so you could help mentor the next captain."
THE AFL will hand down the findings of the Lachie Hansen concussion saga today after three months of investigation about whether the North Melbourne player returned to the ground in a dangerous condition.
The Kangaroos have argued they have no case to answer, believing club doctor Andy McMahon followed protocol.
The AFL has pushed the club on inconsistencies over testimony of North Melbourne interviewees with AFL boss Andrew Demetriou telling player Drew Petrie to butt out over his public comments.
Neither the AFL nor North Melbourne would comment last night, but the Roos last week denied reports football manager Donald McDonald was interrogated over his testimony, saying the meeting did not take place.
