DELISTED Crow Nick Joyce is keeping the faith.
The innocent victim in the Kurt Tippett scandal has fallen back on his religion as his AFL future hangs in the balance.
The 19-year-old quoted a passage from the Bible - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 - on Twitter on Thursday night.
"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus," Joyce tweeted.
The left-footer, who grew up on a farm in Wandearah, is an outgoing member of the Adelaide Christian community.
He has the hashtag "#Jesus" on his Twitter profile, regularly tweets about his faith and featured on the front cover of RISE Magazine earlier this year.
"My faith means everything to me and it is the thing that gets me through the day. It keeps me positive when things go wrong," Joyce said in an interview with the South Australian-based Christian publication.
"No matter how bad the situation is, God will be teaching us and refining us through it."
In the article, Joyce spoke about the joy of getting drafted and how he sees himself serving God as an Adelaide Crow.
"I always knew that my calling was to play AFL football because I knew that if I allowed God to use me he would speak through me to my teammates, coaches, opponents and supporters," he said.
"If we can get more Christian sportspeople giving glory to God and sharing the truth with unbelievers the better, because people do look to sportspeople for advice and how to live, and they look up to them."
Despite having a year to run on his contract, Joyce was the unlucky player delisted earlier this week as one of the consequences of the Tippett scandal that engulfs the club.
Adelaide, who selected him with pick 46 in last year's draft, was not allowed to drop Tippett from its list until the pending charges are dealt with.
Instead, the Crows had to cut a contracted player to make the AFL's mandatory three senior-list changes and chose Joyce because they believe he was the least likely to be poached by another club.Adelaide intends to re-recruit Joyce in Saturday's national draft, but it is unknown which of picks 20, 54 or 64 it will use
When contacted by the Sunday Mail yesterday, Joyce's family declined to comment.
