KEVIN Sheedy and the Giants are going after Kurt Tippett's signature.
Cashed up after Israel Folau's shock retirement, Greater Western Sydney yesterday surprisingly dumped veteran ruckman Dean Brogan to put it in an even stronger position to make a major play for the unhappy Crows key forward.
Just a week after recommitting to Brogan - a premiership player with Port Adelaide in 2004 - the Giants delisted him ahead of tomorrow's second list lodgement deadline.
"Personally I would like to get him (Tippett)," GWS coach Sheedy said. "If we're trying to develop the game in Sydney, you've got to be in for a player like Tippett.
"Western Sydney needs the best team out there that it can and now it looks like Tippett will be available (to be drafted), we'll have a good look at him."
Giants football manager Graeme Allan said his club would await the outcome of Monday's AFL Commission hearing before making a final decision on whether to pursue Tippett, who did not nominate for the national draft and will likely be up for grabs in the pre-season draft on December 11.
"We obviously respect the AFL Commission hearing and await their findings," Allan said.
"We also want to see the terms on which Kurt Tippett will nominate for the draft.
"We are naturally interested in a player of his calibre but a decision on drafting him will also be determined by affordability and with respect to the process outlined by the AFL."

The Giants have picks 1, 2, 3, 12, 14 and 29 at next week's national draft and the first selection at the pre-season draft. Tippett - desperate to join the Swans - is expected to put a $1 million-a-year figure on his head at the pre-season draft.
That is the extraordinary figure Sydney is understood to have offered him when trying to trade for him from Adelaide in last month's exchange period.
"We'd like him but we won't be ridiculous about it," Sheedy said.
Brogan will continue in his role as an assistant coach at the Giants and Allan said he could still be redrafted by the club.
Port Adelaide 2010 first-round draft pick Ben Jacobs - who walked out on the club last week to return to Melbourne - yesterday nominated for the national draft.
He has lodged set financial terms that clubs - including keen suitor North Melbourne - must meet to draft him.
