Midfield wrecking ball Hrovat picks up possessions with ease and nearly every AFL club has shown interest in drafting him. Is he the next Sam Mitchell?

THE Western Bulldogs are confident they have emerged big winners from the trade that sent Brian Lake to Hawthorn after seizing inside midfielder Nathan Hrovat on the cheap.
The Dogs snaffled the diminutive Northern Knights captain at pick 21, the first-round selection obtained from the Hawks, after he slid past the interested Gold Coast and North Melbourne.
"The facts are we wouldn't have got him at 28 or 29 and we got him at 21," Dogs recruiter Simon Dalrymple said.
"Going forward in the draft was the difference between getting a legitimate first-round selection like Hrovat and a player you could have picked in the 30s or 40s.

Dalrymple said he rated the 174cm clearance specialist a "50-50" chance to slide to pick 21, which the Dogs gained in addition to pick 45 in exchange for Lake and pick 28.
The Dogs sent pick 45 to West Coast for hardnut Koby Stevens but Dalrymple said the Dogs hadn't targeted inside midfielders too aggressively.
"It's no doubt it's a large part of Mac's (coach Brendan McCartney) philosophy on how the game should be played.
"He's of that Geelong mould where he was a part of two premierships, so he knows that (contested) brand of footy stands up in finals.''
Busted leg doesn't deter Dogs
Four of the Dogs five draftees are inside specialists, while Dalrymple said he was sold on Hrovat after watching his final TAC Cup game.
"The Knights weren't going to make the finals and a lot of kids fall away, but his attitude was terrific.
Sam Landsberger: The 10 big draft surprises
"He had 37 disposals and nearly dragged his side home against Gippsland, who finished runners-up."
Dalrymple praised prized No. 6 pick Jackson Macrae for his creativity and poise and allayed fears about No. 5 selection Jake Stringer's badly broken leg.
"It's a problem that's been fixed and now it's just a matter of getting some training modes into his body. In a professional full-time environment he could really thrive," he said.
"We think both are going to be super players for us."
